Hartmut Brie

is one of the German poets of nowadays clinging to a style of his own by mostly omitting verbs and transcending ordinary life words into an abstract universe. He considers poetry to be the  most concentrated form of telling things.

Whereas the mainstream thinks that prose and poetry are close to one another, rhythm and metaphors making the difference, he believes that genius  (inspiration and intuition) is of utmost importance combined with a perfect handling of poetical devices.

Operating with syntactic and semantic techniques to illustrate the loneliness of man in his surroundings, he creates an imaginary world of thoughts thus defining his poetry as „Gedankenlyrik“.

With his 7th volume of poems “Beschwörungen“, he continues on the same track avoiding any concessions to mainstream trends or bestseller escapist worlds.

His poetry is demanding and asks for readers participation to achieve the suggestive hints being normally socio-political, though.
